Saflok-Compatible Hotel Key Cards
From legacy magstripe MTs to Quantum RFID and Messenger-connected locks — we supply cards matched to the exact Saflok generation on your doors, verified with free test samples first.
Saflok, now part of dormakaba, is one of the most widely installed hotel locking families in the world. Because the product line spans decades — magstripe MTs, early RFID conversions, Quantum and RT series, and Messenger/BLE-connected locks — "Saflok cards" can mean several different credentials.
The good news: the overwhelming majority of RFID Saflok installations read MIFARE Classic® 1K, which keeps card costs in the economical range. The risk sits in the exceptions — property-specific configurations and mixed estates — which is exactly why we confirm with physical test samples before any print run.
Which chip does Saflok read?
Commonly used pairings by generation. Individual properties can differ — the final chip is always confirmed with free test samples in your own doors before production.
| Lock generation | Card / chip | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Saflok MT / RT magstripe | LoCo magstripe (300 Oe) | Legacy swipe locks; ISO 7811 track layout, front-desk re-encodable |
| Saflok MT RFID / Quantum RFID | MIFARE Classic® 1K | The standard pairing for most RFID Saflok estates |
| Saflok RT RFID / Confidant | MIFARE Classic® 1K | Same credential family; confirm sector configuration by sample |
| Messenger LENS / mobile-enabled sites | MIFARE Classic® 1K (cards) alongside BLE mobile keys | Physical cards remain standard issue for guests without mobile keys |
What we supply for Saflok properties
- PVC, wooden, bamboo and waterproof-paper key cards on MIFARE Classic® 1K
- LoCo magstripe cards for legacy Saflok floors
- Hybrid chip + magstripe cards for mid-migration estates
- Silicone resort wristbands on the same chip for pool and water park properties
How verification works
- 1
Identify your lock
Find the brand and model on the lock’s inside plate or battery cover, ask your installer, or simply photograph a working key card (both sides) and the lock.
- 2
We match the chip
Send the details to sales@cardotel.com or through the form. We identify the chip your generation reads and assemble free test samples with the matching candidates.
- 3
Your doors decide
Encode the samples on site exactly as you do today. Only after your locks confirm the reads do we print the full run — zero compatibility gambles.
Saflok key card questions
Which chip do Saflok RFID locks read?
Most RFID Saflok installations (MT RFID, Quantum, RT) read MIFARE Classic® 1K cards. Individual properties can be configured differently, so we always confirm with free test samples in your actual doors before production.
Do you still supply magstripe cards for older Saflok locks?
Yes — LoCo magstripe Saflok-compatible cards are a running standard for us. Many properties also order hybrid chip + magstripe cards while upgrading floor by floor.
Can wooden or paper cards work with Saflok?
Yes. The lock reads the chip, not the material. We build wooden, bamboo and waterproof-paper cards on the same MIFARE Classic® 1K inlay that Saflok systems expect.
We don’t know our Saflok generation — what do we send you?
A photo of the lock (inside plate if possible) and of a current working key card is usually enough. Alternatively mail us one working card; we identify the chip and send back matching test samples.
