Room access, lockers, admission and spending may use different systems. Define the intended function before choosing the card or wristband.
- Separate access, admission and payment
- List where each credential will be used: room locks, lockers, entrance gates or spending points. Specify which functions must share one credential and which can remain separate for your operation.
- Confirm readers and platform integration
- Provide the readers, encoder and platform details for each function. A matching RFID frequency does not establish compatibility; the authorized system provider must confirm credential configuration and any access or payment integration.
- Specify fit, closure and site conditions
- State adult and child sizes, closure type, single-use or reuse requirements and quantities per design. Describe pool, wet-handling and cleaning conditions, then agree suitable physical samples and the checks to perform.

Resorts and water parks issue credentials that must survive water, sunscreen and all-day wear, which is why most move guests from cards to RFID wristbands and keep cards for staff and back-of-house. A band stays on the wrist between venues, so lockouts and reissue queues at reception drop.
One band can open the room, release a locker and charge drinks to the folio — but each job is a separate integration on its own system. Confirm each one with its provider and test a sample band in every system before ordering stock.

Choosing the band: silicone, woven, Tyvek or PVC
Reusable silicone suits room-key duty: issued at check-in, collected at check-out, wiped down and re-encoded for the next guest. Chlorine, salt water and sunscreen attack closures and printed surfaces long before they trouble the chip. Ask for the selected construction’s water, heat and cleaning limits, then wear a sample band in your own pool for a week — a spec sheet is not an afternoon at the wave pool.
Day guests on the same infrastructure
Water parks add a second population: day guests who need admission, a locker and spending but no room. Many parks run inexpensive single-day Tyvek bands beside reusable resort bands on the same reader infrastructure, with sequential numbering and color-coding by date keeping gate checks fast. What to send for a resort quote
- Door lock system for room-access bands: brand, model and encoder
- Locker and point-of-sale systems the band must work with, if any
- Band mix and quantities: reusable silicone or woven vs single-day Tyvek or PVC
- Adult and child size split, colors and closure preference
- Artwork or logo files, plus any numbering or barcode requirements
- Destination and the date the bands must be on site for the season
Resort and water park questions
What survives chlorine and sunscreen best?
Silicone handles pool chemistry best among the reusable options and wipes clean between guests; woven fabric is more comfortable over a week of continuous wear but holds moisture longer. For one-day use, Tyvek is the economical choice. Check the stated limits of the exact construction on a sample in your own water. Compare band materials
Can one wristband handle room, locker and payments?
The chip can usually carry more than one function, but door locks, locker controllers and the POS are configured separately, and each has to accept the credential. Ask every system provider what it supports, then have one sample band verified across all of them before committing to a band stock.
Do guests keep the wristbands?
Day bands, yes — Tyvek and snap PVC bands are single-use by design. Reusable silicone and woven bands are normally collected at check-out, cleaned and re-encoded; when you set quantities, plan for the share that leaves on a wrist anyway.
What sizes should we order for families?
At least two — a band that fits a wrist poorly gets slipped off and lost at the pool. Child sizes plus color-coding by package speed up gate checks and make lost-band matching easier for staff.
